Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Inaugural Out Run Hunger provides more than 100,000 meals

FORT PIERCE, Fl, – Nearly 150 participants took part in the inaugural Out Run Hunger 5K on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 to support Treasure Coast Food Bank.

Amateurs and experienced runners alike ranging from kids to 70-somethings joined in the event as part of Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Hunger Action Month activities. The event brought in more than 100,000 meals for people in need of food in Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee counties.

“We want to thank everyone who participated in our inaugural Out Run Hunger event, including our wonderful sponsors,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “This is one more great way to take action against hunger during Hunger Action Month.”

Presenting Sponsors for Out Run Hunger 2021 were iThink Financial and Mystic Valley Management, a Dunkin’ Franchisee.  Other sponsors for the event were AAPex Electric, Amerifirst Home Mortgages, Cobb’s Landing, James G. Vulpetti/Pinnacle Real Estate, Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company, Nestle/Ready Refresh, Orange Theory, Paul Jacquin & Sons, Southern Eagle Distributing, Summerlin’s Marine Construction, and Healthy Harvest Catering.

The event was a sanctioned race with chip timing. In addition to finisher medals and tee shirts, Treasure Coast Food Bank awarded the top three male and female finishers in each category with a commemorative plate.

Top overall male finishers were Keith Newman of Port St. Lucie, James Lund of Fort Pierce, and Ty Martino of Hobe Sound.  Top overall female finishers were Rosa Lozano, Toni Medvetz, and Liz Barrios, all of Port St. Lucie.
